Community AND Community Resources are Critical

“Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much” – Helen Keller

Sustaining the Circle of Care

Your continued support will help more kids catch up faster, empower more families to provide ongoing, effective in-home learning, and utilize community resources that will help the whole child develop and grow.

Throughout the school year, your gifts are helping children grow in confidence, in ability, and in their belief that they belong in school. As they grow academically, they also become more engaged in class—learning more of what they’re meant to learn in these critical early elementary-school years. That’s a good start!

“It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken adults.” – Frederick Douglass

Discover how precious your gift can be

Join a Giving Gathering and see how your support helps a child overcome learning challenges and grow in reading, math, and confidence.

But giving children a fairer chance to catch up in school takes more than tutoring. Through FamilyBridge, your gifts are also helping build bridges by engaging parents and caregivers. So while the kids are learning critical reading and math skills in school and through tutoring, their parents are confidently guiding learning at home and advocating for their child’s education for years to come. That’s even better!!

“By education I mean an all-round drawing out of the best in the child and adult; body, mind and spirit.” – Mahatma Gandhi

Thanks to you, FamilyBridge is now extending the Circle of Care even further—connecting families with trusted community partners and lasting support that nurtures academic growth, builds self-confidence, and strengthens essential life skills. Together, we’re laying the foundation for lasting success in middle school, high school, and beyond.

FamilyBridge supports learning at home.

While you support caring, one-on-one tutoring, you are also building bridges that inform and engage families so they can better support their child’s education.

Here’s what that will look like over the next three years:

  • Stronger tutoring alignment with classrooms, so kids grow faster in reading and math with support that complements what teachers are already teaching.
  • In-home learning tools and regular updates for families, enabling them to stay informed and involved in their child’s academic growth.
  • Coaching and resources that build lasting confidence, so families can continue supporting learning long after tutoring ends.
  • Connections to local partners, like Boys and Girls Clubs and Big Brothers Big Sisters, who offer mentoring, enrichment, and long-term support.

Your continued support of FamilyBridge is strengthening the nurturing Circle of Care that surrounds every child we serve. Together, we will help more kids catch up faster, equip more families to provide ongoing, effective in-home learning, and connect them with community resources that will help the whole child develop and grow for years to come.

“The work of education is divided between the teacher and the environment.” – Maria Montessori

Grant Fuels Interventional
One-on-one Reading and Math Tutoring with Family Support

Chiara and bilingual tutor Vilma

Your generosity helped provide Chiara with a bilingual tutor. Through hard work and comforting support, she is learning to read.

Children Rising is thrilled to announce a second grant from the Ross Stores Foundation. Children Rising one-on-one tutoring programs align seamlessly with Ross Stores Foundation’s commitment “to building strong community relationships and making a meaningful impact on organizations supporting the educational journey of socioeconomically challenged young people.”

Grant Utilization: Fostering Caring, One-on-One Learning

The Ross Stores Foundation grant supports Children Rising’s evidence-based, highly-effective one-on-one reading, math, and homework tutoring programs. Succeeding by Reading, Path2Math, and FamilyBridge provide critical learning support for second and third-grade children who are typically two or more grade levels behind.

The heart of Children Rising programs funded through the grant lies in providing weekly one-on-one interventional tutoring and family support to students in need. The grant’s funds are allocated to the following areas:

  • Tutor Expenses: Recruitment, Live Scan screening, and training ensure that the tutors are well-prepared and committed to making a difference.
  • Staffing: Dedicated clinic coordinators manage tutoring sessions, coach tutors, and facilitate communication with school staff, optimizing the efficiency and effectiveness of the programs.
Program Dynamics: Building Connections for Lasting Impact

Children Rising’s one-on-one tutoring sessions take place during the school day in a classroom environment, creating an atmosphere conducive to focused learning. The clinic environment creates a nurturing learning space for the children. Students also receive after-school homework support in a structured classroom setting. The lasting relationships formed between tutors and students contribute to the acceleration of learning.

“Ross Stores Foundation’s support empowers Children Rising to bridge educational gaps, fostering confident and successful learners.”
