Thursday, August 20, 2020
4:30 – 5:15 pm PDT
Online via Facebook Live (RSVP for detailed instructions. You do not need a Facebook account to join!)

Join Children Rising as we celebrate the publication of author Bronwyn Harris and her former student Jorge Ramirez’s new book, Letters From the Inside: Hope in the Journey Beyond Classroom and Cell. In conversation with author Mitali Perkins, Bronwyn will discuss the backstory of how the book came to be, read a few excerpts, and answer questions from guests.

Unfortunately, since we will be online, we can’t provide cake and champagne, so we hope you’ll bring your own beverage of choice to toast the new book.

Register now for the Book Launch Party and we’ll send you information and a link to join us online.

About the Book

Letters From the Inside: Hope in the Journey Beyond Classroom and Cell
shares a captivating series of letters between a teacher and student. Bronwyn wrote about her time teaching third grade in her first book, Literally Unbelievable: Stories from an East Oakland Classroom. In her new book, Harris shares years of correspondence with her former third-grade student, Jorge, currently serving 19 years in prison for his role in an attempted police shooting. Jorge shows incredible vulnerability while providing details of his life while growing up in East Oakland and a raw glimpse of life behind bars in California.
