Happy Thanksgiving from Children Rising

Why I sit at the kids table

Telling wild stories, making silly faces, and hiding vegetables under the table can be much more fun than serious adult conversation.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! Being a proud grandfather of 5, I know first hand that the best seat at the dinner table on Thanksgiving Day is at the “kid’s table”. Telling wild stories, making silly faces, and hiding vegetables under the table can be much more fun than serious adult conversation.

I would give anything to be at the kid’s table this year. But, as many of you can relate, Sophia and I will have to settle for a gathering over Zoom. Although we are disappointed, we are grateful for our family, friends, and health, especially this year. Amidst the uncertainty and unrest that 2020 has brought, it has undoubtedly caused many of us to pause and hold more tightly to the things we cherish.

I would like to take a moment to express my gratitude to YOU on this Thanksgiving Day. So many of you have been showing up at our “kid’s table” and letting them know that they matter. You understand that every child in our community deserves the opportunity to learn in school so they may reach their God-given potential, now and long into the future.

From all of us at Children Rising, thank you for empowering children and youth to build bridges to a better future, encouraging them and their families, and inspiring hope, now and for generations to come.

With gratitude,

Jim
